Chris Paul is not disappointing during the 2008-9 NBA season. After a spectacular 2007-8 NBA season in which his Hornets team won 56 games and came within 1 game of the Western Conference Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers, Paul is picking up where he left off. In 2007-2008, Paul averaged 21.1 points, 11.6 assists and 4.0 rebounds per game. So far this season, Paul is averaging 20.5 points, 12.2 assists and 5.9 rebounds. He has scored in double-digits in every single Hornets game and has delivered double-digits in assists in all but 2 of the team’s 13 games.

    His last 2 games have been masterpieces – 2 triple-doubles – his 5th and 6th career triple-doubles:

Saturday 11/22 – Hornets 109, Thunder 97 – In 43 minutes, Paul scored 29 points, dished out 16 assists and grabbed 10 boards. He also had 3 steals and a blocked shot.

Tuesday 11/24 – Hornets 99, Clippers 87 – In only 37 minutes, Paul scored 14 points, dished out 17 assists (his season high so far) and grabbed 10 boards. He also had 1 steal and 1 blocked shot.

His Hornets are now off to an 8-5 start, good for 2nd place in the Southwest Division of the Western Conference, 1 game behind the Houston Rockets. Paul is turning out to be one of the most dominant point guards in the NBA. He has worked so hard on all facets of his game, and with the increased rebounding numbers, he is becoming one of the most well-rounded players playing the game today. Kudos to Chris Paul and his great work ethic and here’s hoping to a long, injury-free career so that we can continue to enjoy a master at work.
