The Red Wings ousted the Blackhawks with a thrilling 2-1 overtime win in Detroit. Darren Helm scored the game winner for the Red Wings just 3:58 into OT. The Red Wings will face the Penguins in the Stanley Cup for the 2nd straight season.
After high scoring affairs in the series 1st 4 games, this was a defensive struggle. Neither team scored until the 3rd period and each team was 0 for 3 on the power play.
The Red Wings struck 1st on Dan Cleary’s goal 6:08 into the 3rd period. Patrick Kane tied the game with just over 7 minutes to play in regulation.
Chris Osgood saved 30 shots for the Red Wings while Cristobal Huet shined for the Blackhawks saving 42 shots on the net during the night.
