I’ve done my fair share of swimming over the years. And while I love it, I saw it as nothing more than getting out in the hot summer weather, riding the waves and enjoying the sights on the beach or at the pool. Olympic Gold Medalist Dara Torres just came out with a new book – Age Is Only a Number – and she has been hitting various media outlets promoting the book. Her feats in and out of the swimming pool are truly amazing, and while she is definitely more muscular than I would like, her body at the age of 41 is spectacular.
Congrats to Dara for her Olympic Medals as well as her on-land accomplishments as a devoted mother, national television correspondent and sexy model – all at the young old age of 41.

A-Rod was all the Yankees needed to end a 5-game skid. A-Rod crushed the 1st pitch he saw on his 2009 season for a 3-run home run that put the Yankees up 3-0 in the 1st inning. That would be all that CC Sabathia needed as he cruised through a complete game 4-hitter. Sabathia needed only 112 pitches to earn his 2nd victory of the season. Sabathia walked 1 and had 8 K’s. But the big story was A-Rod who had been rehabbing his hip injury for the last week in the minors. A-Rod had this to say about his 1st game of 20009 – “It was awesome. It was just nice to get to the ballpark, give the guys a hug and do what I do best.”
Let’s see if this is the catalyst the Yankees needed to get their season back on track…

Manny Ramirez has been suspended by Major League Baseball – effective immediately for violating the league’s ban against performance enhancing drugs. The suspension will last 50 games – the minimum games suspension for a 1st time offender of the drug policy. Manny claims that his doctor prescribed him a drug to treat an existing medical condition, and that that drug caused the violation of the MLB drug policy.
Whatever…
Jayson Stark has a great piece on why we should not forgive Manny – check it out!
Oh yeah – another steroids user is making his 2009 debut tonight for the Yankees – these 2 should be forced to live together in a 10 by 10 room for a month without any windows. See how they look and act after that…

Alex Rodriguez played 3rd base for 7 innings on Tuesday for the 2nd straight day. It is unclear if he will play a 3rd straight day on Wednesday. A-Rod went 3 for 6 with 2 home runs to center field. I wonder if his hot new girlfriend – model Melissa Britos – was in Tampa to check out her man…
