Minnesota Vikings’ Adrian Peterson Is a Running Machine
No Comments
In NFL Week 1 action, Adrian Peterson proved exactly why he is the best running back in football. Peterson led the Vikings to an easy 34-20 win over the Browns in Cleveland. Peterson rushed the ball 25 times for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns. His 64-yard TD gallop in the 4th quarter was punctuated with 5 broken tackles and 2 stiff-arms – simply incredible. The presence of Peterson makes it easy on newly-acquired, un-retired quarterback Brett Favre. Favre needed to attempt only 21 passes in the win, completing 14 for 110 yards. Favre threw 1 touchdown pass to rookie all-purpose wide receiver Percy Harvin and had no interceptions, good for a 95.3 passer rating.
Couple the speed/power of Peterson and a healthy, mistake-free Favre with one of the best defense in the NFC, you have a recipe for success. There is a lot riding on the Vikings this year, so the pressure is on head coach Brad Childress to bring a championship to Minneapolis very very soon. We’ll have to see how it plays out, but with the current Sports Illustrated Cover Boy leading the way, Vikings fans have a lot to be excited about.
