De Ja Vu? After the Patriots lost their star quarterback Tom Brady during the 1st game of the 2008 NFL season, Patriots brass and fans are both worried about the injury that Brady suffered in last night’s pre-season win over the Redskins. The Patriots are down-playing the injury as a “sore shoulder”, but Brady endured a massive hit from Redskins 350-lb. defensive tackle Alberty Haynesworth at the end of the 1st half. Brady could be seen on the sidelines flexing his arm and shoulder and trying to stretch it out. Brady did not return to the game, although Patriots head coach Bill Belichick said that he did not intend to play Brady in the 2nd half (even though the rest of the 1st team suited up for the 1st drive of the 2nd half). We all know how Belichick and his staff loves to try to mislead opponents with injuries to their players, so your guess is as good as mine as to how injured Brady really is. Prior to the Haynesworth hit, Brady looked to be in mid-season form. Brady completed 12 of 19 passes for 150 yards and 2 touchdowns to Randy Moss – good for a 122.7 passer rating. That made the hit all the more disappointing as Brady did not emerge from the game unscathed.
The Patriots have 1 more pre-season game against the New York Giants at Foxboro on Thursday 9/3. We can’t see Brady playing in the game, especially with the regular season starting in just 2 weeks. We’ll keep you posted as soon as we hear anything…
